Future Photonics Hub Industry Day 2018

By Ruth Churchill (Future Photonics Hub Coordinator)

Date and time

Thu, 20 Sep 2018 09:00 - 17:00 GMT+1

Location

University of Southampton

Highfield Campus Southampton SO17 1BJ United Kingdom

Description

Advancing the manufacturing of next-generation light technologies

The Future Photonics Hub is a £12 million EPSRC future manufacturing research hub, which brings together academia and industry to make light-based (photonics) technologies ever more functional, easier to integrate and more economical to manufacture.

The Future Photonics Hub Industry Day aims to:

- Unite the UK's excellent science base with companies, R&D organisations and funding agencies

- Present the latest research in new, practical and commercial photonics manufacturing technologies

- Create opportunities to collaborate in developing innovative solutions to key industrial challenges...

... with the ultimate objective to accelerate the growth of the UK's £12 billion photonics sector, and support the £600 billion of UK manufacturing output that depends on this enabling technology.

Who should attend?

If you are working in photonics research, R&D, research funding, the photonics industry or in one of the many industries enabled by photonics, then this event is for you.

Why attend?

We know the astonishing range of innovative ideas that emerge when scientists and engineers come together to think about manufacturing. Whether you are from academia or industry, you have a valuable role to play in developing transformational and commercially-viable photonics technologies.

By attending our Industry Day you will:

- Stay ahead of the curve on the latest photonics research, technologies and UK funding landscape

- Be part of a forum for discussing the research, challenges and current initiatives currently affecting the sector

- Gain opportunities to meet with prospective partners, collaborators, customers and suppliers
